The last time (and the first time) I went to Bangkok, I was fourteen. I bought a pile of clothes - most of them clothes which I look at now wanting to slam my head against the wall because in all honesty they're just plain terrible. Ripped threaded leggings, oversized t-shirts with holes in them to wear with my ripped leggings, and I think I bought some shitty little brown frilly dress that pretty much looks like a reject outfit from some cowboy movie??

Painful times.

I've been planning to go back to Bangkok with my mum since two years ago. Somehow there was always something else clashing that made it pretty much impossible to happen though. But, finally it worked out. It was completely impromptu. I was at a friends place when I got a call from my mum saying that my aunty and her booked a cheap flight and that we were leaving in 3 weeks.

I. FLIPPED. OUT.

The three weeks went by agonisingly slow. And now just like that, my three days in Bangkok are over. Man, was it amazing though.

I stayed in this cute little hotel called Lemon Tea Hotel, pretty central in terms of location. A walking distance away from Platinum Mall which is where I spent most of my time. Seriously, it was such a cute hotel in a row of foot massage parlours (bless our souls, foot massage parlours <3). They served us little cups of lemon tea as welcome drinks and it tasted so good. There was a whole wall of different types of cans of tea arranged all the way up to the ceiling and bags of tea under the reception. It was so soothing to look at and be around! Not to mention, their beds were made of magic and pixie dust with pillows made of heaven's clouds and blankets threaded with the wings of angels. It was very hard to get off the bed without crying a little.

I bought most of my clothes from Platinum Mall. The prices were slightly more expensive than the last time I was there, not to mention the drop in the value of our currency. But of course in comparison to the prices we're usually accustomed, to a good 80% of the things there were worthy bargains. Holy cow, my shopping money disappeared in the blink of an eye, I pretty much scared myself with my speed of shopping. I had no chill, everybody. I had no chill.

We took a walk to Paragon and along the way we stopped by at Siam Centre. I don't know if I visited Siam Centre the last time, because I'm pretty sure I would have remembered such a beautiful place. I fell in love with everything about it! It screamed creativity and out of the box ideas, the whole concept of it had me hooked.

Moment of silence for their pretty food court too.

I'm completely a sucker for bold patterns, colours and lights. I spent about an hour just roaming around looking at everything.

I also had a Thai foot massage for the first time! It was in one of the parlours in our hotel row. We went at about 10.30pm after walking around Platinum and Chatuchak Market from 10 in the morning. You have no idea how much my feet hurt, the heels of my feet were pulsing and the soles of my feet were aching. The feeling after my feet were placed in a basin of warm water and pressed with oil - there are tears in my eyes just thinking about it. It was that amazing.

If you have never had a foot massage before,

I VERY STRONGLY RECOMMEND IT.

Besides the shopping and Siam Centre, another highlight of my trip was - wait for it - 7 Eleven! Yes. The convenient store. Not only did I manage to get my favourite yoghurt,

but it gave me really nice instant food. I was waiting in line at the counter with my yoghurt and bottles of mineral water and I see the cashier going off to make some grilled cheese?? I obviously went kind of crazy and then I saw a little menu pasted on the cash register.

There's burgers and fried rice and grilled cheese sandwiches with sausages and minced meat and just everything delicious that you can ever imagine - it's all there. I had such a good lunch before heading to the airport.

Lunch from 7E that's right.

Retail therapy does wonders, I must say. It was a nice little break, and damn am I thankful that my mother made this happen for us. I'm so grateful. There's something about Bangkok that really gets me going (shopping aside). It's amazing to see how much of a central hub it is for the people of Thailand and to foreigners from both the East and West. In my opinion, it serves it's purpose well and raises the bar for third world country capitals. It's a location that can't afford to be overlooked by investors or multinational industries and companies, and although it's much larger population contributes to how well their market does, the development of the city to cater to that advantage says a lot.

I miss it already. Till the next time, Bangkok!
