:: advocates of change (or not) ::
It always amuses me how opinionated people can be when it comes to the most unnecessary things.
It's in our human nature to feel a strong sense of ownership towards our views, opinions or fruits of thought. Precisely why we're so caught up in getting our voices heard all the time. Who doesn't like seeing their contributions being waved high and mighty above a crowd?
God bless the Internet for giving us countless platforms of expression. It's amazing how these countless platforms of expressions not only make opportunities to channel opinions that matter, but also pave the way for useless accusations, baseless analysis and just pure dissing done in the name of a so-called social betterment.
I spend half of my free time watching YouTube videos and a good 60% of the comments on any video consist of constant whining, complaining and accusing. I'm not talking about hate comments because the hate factor is pretty much a norm that will always remain. We're all closet haters, nobody should deny this.
I'm referring to the community of people sitting behind their computer screens acting like modern day Mother Teresas and social advocates by constantly analysing every single action, word and facial expression to find something seemingly offensive or disrespectful.
We're so lucky to have individuals sprouting everywhere that look at any statement accompanied with a laugh as a rude joke that aims to belittle target communities or ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations or religious viewpoints.
I watch a Pilates instructor talking about eating clean and I see comments like You know, its rude how you're showing off how you maintain yourself so easily when you know that there are so many people out there that can't keep up like you do. Think about how you're making some girls feel.
Watch a YouTuber say 'sex change' with a confused look on his face for 0.2 seconds in a video that doesn't bring it up at all and you get comments like
That's pretty much our society - constantly thirsting for an opportunity to show people that they care about the issues that our world faces. Everybody wants to make a difference, everybody wants to fight for a right. Along with the many people that actually do stand up to change our world, we have even more people trying to be a respected pioneer of change through the 'well versed' comments they write. Hence, why we see more wise words from brilliant teenagers accusing young YouTubers and vloggers of being inconsiderate, rude and ignorant rather than on videos of speeches by dictator rulers or messed up politicians.
Where do all the wise words from us go when it comes to things that matter?
Do we even know enough about it to say anything at all?
.....Time to reevaluate my life again.
