:: little things & the satisfaction they bring ::
4:23 AM
I've tried to be optimistic and tell myself that this relentless sense of being bugged by something at the back of my head every other day is a result of my tendency to overthink and be a down right perfectionist. I think I've finally accepted my reality though.
My reality, my perception of the world I live in, is that no matter what you do, you will always have something that drags your enthusiasm down. No matter how relaxed, laid back or free you set a day out to be - there's really no such thing a day where EVERYTHING is perfectly right.
I've accepted that it's purely impossible to be fully satisfied with how a complete puzzle looks like even though all the pieces are perfectly fit.
Human nature.
There's really nothing we can do about it.

So I was thinking this feeling through and I started to take notice of the distractions I use every day to give me little spurts of satisfaction that I need to boost me up.
Honestly, this is the only thing that I can keep neat. I'm one of the messiest people in the world and I have officially given up on trying because it stresses me out how fast I mess things up again after I attempt to be organised. So I'm taking baby steps! For some strange reason, opening up my laptop and looking at my clean screen makes me a little less tense and gets me
2. Pasta
A good plate of pasta takes me to greater heights on any occasion really. College has gotten me feeling hungry all the time I'm not even joking. The strength of food to make or break my week has been multiplied ten times over. As of right now my top picks for a perfect fix of pasta would be this beauty up here; Jibby & Co's lasagna, Oregi's tomato meatball pasta thingy and carbonara (I'm honestly sold that everything edible in Oregi is perfect ok) and Bread & Brew's pesto!
Sucks how pasta affects your wallet and your attempts to keep fit though :-) :-) :-)
3. New Stationery
Doesn't new stationery make you happy too????? I think this satisfaction is common ground for many. A clean pencil box, new pens, highlighters, notebooks, a fresh eraser - you go to classes feeling a little smarter. Mind trick!
I make it very obvious that he's my favourite author. Although reading a book of his isn't something that can be done every other day, I get nothing but pure raw bliss when I have a book of his in my hands. The first Murakami book I purchased was Kafka on the Shore - and it remains my favourite book till this day. I fall completely for complex storylines weaved together in a flow thats worded so beautifully, so descriptively, it paints a picture almost immediately in my head the second I read a word. I've read many books and many short stories, but never have I found a style of writing that has trapped me more than the one he has. I admire Haruki Murakami deeply for his mind and his intelligence, and if I ever do have the guts to make my early dreams of writing a book into a reality, I only wish that I could make my readers fall in love with my imagination the way I've fallen in love with his.
5. My iPod
My iPod is my baby. I rely on it to get me through everything - through late nights thinking, late nights studying, car rides, bad moods, empty classes, jogs. I got my first iPod when I was 9 and it was a cute little fat Nano from one of the older generations of Nanos. I remember taking almost a day trying to download iTunes and Limewire on my desktop computer without using up the internet limit and stopping everyone else in my family from having a chance to use it. I would make it a routine to watch MTV everyday and write down every single song that I liked so I could expand my music library. So apart from the good ol' Hannah Montana, High School Musical and Camp Rock soundtracks that every 10 year old would have, I had The Kooks and the Arctic Monkeys too and I guess thats where my openness and appreciation for different genres and languages (I have about 6 languages of music in my library??) of music came from.
My iPod now is a good mix of korean crème de la crème and alternative indie bands & that's a recipe for happiness, y'all wish you were me bye.
